George Schussel is the Founder and Chairman of Digital Consulting Institute (DCI), the largest American owned Information Systems conference and trade show company.  An expert on database, client/server and information management issues, his lectures are held all over the world – typically before audiences that number in the hundreds or thousands.  As DCI’s Chairman, Schussel has primary responsibility for forecasting industry trends and identifying new fields of opportunity for DCI trade shows.  His input has been crucial in the company’s compounded growth rate of 30% per year — which has been maintained throughout this decade.

Schussel writes extensively on database and client/server computing subjects and has authored or co-authored several books and over 100 articles or columns in leading computer industry journals such as Computerworld, Datamation, Client Server Today and Data Based Advisor.  His most recent book is “Rightsizing Information Systems.”

Schussel is the Chairman of DATABASE & CLIENT/SERVER WORLD, a conference trade show held twice a year drawing over 40,000 trade-show attendees per year.  His highly rated lectures typically score 9 on a 10 point scale and are noted for underlining and explaining technical issues with a focus on the business benefits and uses of technology.

Schussel undertakes a variety of consulting assignments in the software industry.  Software vendors that he has assisted with marketing or product positioning consulting include:  Information Builders, AT&T/NCR, IBM, DEC, Sequent computer, computer Associates, Sybase, Boarland and others.

Prior to founding DCI in 1983, Schussel was Vice President and CIO at the American Mutual Group of instance companies in Wakefield, Massachusetts.  He was the senior manager responsible for administration of a multi-million dollar computer budget and 200 full-time personnel handling all data processing for the American Mutual Group.

Schussel is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, holds CDP certification from the Data Processing Management Association, and has received an Outstanding Industrial Engineer of the year award from the American Institute of Industrial Engineers.  His academic background includes a Doctorate from the Harvard Business School (Marketing and Computer Science); Master’s Degree from Harvard University (Applied Mathematics & Computer Science) and Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California (Physics & Mathematics).  He has lectured or held faculty appointment at the University of Southern California, Harvard University, MIT, and the University of Alabama.
